Dogbites
A person who keeps or has control of an animal may be liable for personal injury of property damage caused by the animal.

Under Georgia law a dogowner is not liable for damages suffered by anyone who is bitten if that dog does not have a propensity to bite other people or has bitten at least one person in the past and the owner is aware of the dog’s viciousness.

If you have been injured by a dog or other animal you should take the following actions:

  1. If you have been injured, immediately seek medical attention.
  2. Immediately contact the police, file an incident report and request a copy of the police report.
  3. Obtain the name and address of the animal’s owner.
  4. Get the name and address of any witnesses.
  5. Take photographs of the animal and your injuries along with the location of the incident.
  6. Try to take photographs of any visible injuries you have suffered as a result of the incident.
  7. Try to save any clothing that may have been damaged by the animal.
  8. Please save and take photographs of any property damage caused by the animal.
  9. Contact our law office for a free evaluation to determine whether you have a case.
